Path less traveled by
Today I plein air painted at Barton Springs Pool. I titled this painting the "path less traveled by" as I was the only one not painting the pool! The crape myrtles are in full bloom now and I had to capture it. 8 x 8. Oil on panel.
It's a little dark as I was painting in the shade. I think I will lighten the back ground up a bit.

Olive Anyone?
6 x 6 Oil on Panel. Today's still life is inspired by 2 things. First, I organized my studio this weekend and set up a place to paint still lifes as recommended by Carol Marine workshop. Second, I was commenting to a friend that I loved Carol's painting of an olive jar. Suzanne said, "why don't you paint your own?" So thanks Suzanne, here is my own painting of an olive jar.

Springtime
I am currently working on a commission painting of a Mom and her child. I started painting out in plein air again. Today I was at Ramsey Park. Last week I hit Old Settler's Park. I will post photos tomorrow. It's good to get outside and paint again now that the weather is permitting. I'm a little rusty but getting back into plein air.

From an Article in "The Daily Texan"
“For the Love of Art” is a juried exhibition that started with more than 200 entries, which were narrowed down to the 49 works currently on display. While a majority of the featured pieces come from local artists, some entries were sent in from around the country and overseas.
One of the most striking paintings in the exhibit is “Precious Love” by Deborah Thomas.
The painting depicts two hands forming a heart with the feet of a baby cradled between them. The image depicts the unbroken bond and love between a parent and child. Another piece, “Hot Property” by Mitzi Easley, depicts a couple peacefully sitting under an umbrella on a secluded beach with an azure ocean in the background.
