Sunny on the Beach

6 x 8 Oil on Panel. This is one of my favorite subjects. They live in Hawaii so we get a lot of beach photos. Sunny is my niece. I was supposed to be painting a 12 x 12 but this one appealed to me more.

Bike - painting in progress

As the economy has slowed, so has my painting time. I was painting everyday and I hope to be able to get back to that soon! This painting is not finished. I am posting it as a work in progress because I hate to have people viewing my blog and seeing the same painting. 10 x 20 Oil on Canvas.

La Sagrada Familia, Temple in Barcelona

This painting is 11 x 14 Oil on Canvas. This is a commissioned painting. The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (official Catalan name; Spanish: Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia; "Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family"), often simply called the Sagrada Família, is a massive, privately-funded Roman Catholic church that has been under construction in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain since 1882 and is not expected to be complete until at least 2026. Considered the master-work of renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), the project's vast scale and idiosyncratic design have made it one of Barcelona's (and Spain's) top tourist attractions for many years. A portion of the building's interior is scheduled to open for public worship and tours by September of 2010[1].

If Jackson Pollock was happy

These are 12 x 24 panels. After seeing "Jackson Pollock" movie, the Hollywood version. I had a discussion on facebook with artist and non-artists about Pollock. This is what prompted this painting. I used no brushes in Pollock style... I have not seen the true documentary. I guess I'm too pop culture and shouldn't admit it on my artist blog. I had a lot of fun doing this but it was very messy. I did it on the floor of my garage. I hope you enjoy the humor. I tried to use some brighter colors.

Little Man Scuba

This painting is 6 x 12 Oil on Canvas. Maybe because it's so hot here in Texas, I've been drawn to kids in the pool pictures. This is the son of my college room mate and longtime friend. She lovingly refers to her son as "the little man" which inspired the title. I've also been drawn to the long canvas. I like it because it's a little different.

Face Painter

This painting is 16 x 8 and oil on panel. I took the photo in Portland at the Saturday Artist Market. It was interesting and I knew it would be a bit of a challenge. I've been working on it off and on. I may work on it some more but for now I want to sit with it.

Stray Cat Trilogy

These 3 paintings are each 4 x 4 oil on cradle canvas. About 10 years ago I was living in Florida and a friend found a small black cat. I was visiting my friend when this cat came and layed on me the entire time I was there. She claimed me right from the start. I called her Baby until I found out she was neutered and about 2 years old. Her name is Bailey. About 5 years ago, we had a yellow tabby that died of a congenital heart disease. He was only 5. We went to the SPCA to find a friend for Bailey. Reno was a tiny kitten that when held would rub his little head on our noses. He was sickly the 1st couple of months of his life and the vet said he may not live. I was home not working and recovering from a miscarriage. Reno and I healed each other and he is now a pudgy happy cat. About 3 years ago, Fourth of July weekend, a little black cat came to our back door. She was under weight and missing hair from half her body. I couldn't stand it and took her to the vet. The vet said she didn't have any type of infection, she was licking herself out of anxiety. She is now a pudgy little black cat with all but a few patches of hair that never grew back. These are my babies.

The proposal

11 x 14 Oil on Panel. This was a commissioned painting. It is to be a wedding gift. It was a challenge but I think you learn the most when you are stretching yourself. I was careful not to use orange as it is an A&M tradition.

These Boots are made for Walkin'

This painting is larger than what I've been doing. It's an 11 x 14 - ampersand panel. I have to tell you that paintings I've done on these panels usually come out better for me. I think it helps me paint looser. Anyway, these are my niece, Sunny's red boots. She is about to turn 2. They are precious (just like her).

The path of least resistance

6 x 8 - Oil on panel. Today the Wildcats painted at Zilker Park. My goal was to simplify today. I usually try to pick something I think will be simple and it turns out complicated. Today I chose a path and because I was simplying the title seemed to fit the situation.

Dragonfly Mosiac

No, this is not a painting. I do mosaics on occasion when the mood strikes me. I've had this awhile. The colors of the dragonfly are a little greener and the body of the dragon fly is chocolate brown. I've decided to sell it if anyone wants to buy it. It is on a wooden board 14 in x 32 in. I was going to make a bench or something but I haven't gotten around to it. I'm selling it for $200. It's ceramic tile but it's a little thinner than what you find at the home improvement store. My photo is not as straight as the actually piece.
