Provence Painting - Surging with Confidence

One of my friends that was in the Plein Air Painting group in France told me this story about her Grandson. They had gone on a ski trip and he was scared so they were taking him home. On the way, he asked if they could turn around and go back. He wanted to try again. My friend said she asked him if he wasn't scared anymore. I believe she said he was about 15 years old. He looked at her and said, "Grandma, I am SURGING with Confidence." She said she was so impressed with him and of course he went and did well.

I tell you this story because I have titled this painting, "Surging with Confidence". The day before I painted this I had a melt down and was going to quit painting for good. I was tired and frustrated. I packed up my painting equipment early and tried to clear my head. The next day, I told my friend, I am surging with confidence! That day I painted this painting and my teacher said "that's a really good painting." He is not one to arbitrarily hand out compliments.
